Contributing to Macquarie University ResearchOnline
Macquarie University ResearchOnline is designed to show case the research and scholarly outputs of the University. Staff, students and affiliates of the University are invited to contribute their research publications and works to the repository. The Collection Development Guidelines provides guidelines on the material which is eligible for inclusion within the repository.
Depositing Your Work
To deposit your work please:
• Consult the Collection Management Policy prior to depositing.
• Email your request to deposit and send a copy of your publication to repository staff at researchonline@library.mq.edu.au
• Provide any information that you may have about the copyright permissions associated with your work, e.g. copyright ownership or permissions.
What Will Repository Staff Do For You?
Repository staff will:
• Verify the copyright permissions associated with your publication, etc, on your behalf.
• Verify and include the citation/publication details of your work within the repository.
• Convert any MS Word file/s to PDF format (if required and appropriate) for storage and access within the repository.
• Expose your publication in the repository to make it available to the global research community and discoverable via the Internet, e.g. Google, Google Scholar, etc.
• Abide by and manage any embargos associated with your publication or work
Showcasing Your Work
Wherever possible, and in line with copyright law, the repository will endeavour to make publisher's version of your publications available within the repository. However, only a limited number of publishers allow the publisher's version of the article to be made available within an institutional repository or on a university website. In these instances the repository strongly encourages authors to provide post print copies (author's final version after peer review) of their work for inclusion to be made available via open access to the global research community.
Copyright, Compliance and Access
The deposit of material into Macquarie University ResearchOnline does not transfer copyright to Macquarie University. Inclusion, use and access of full-text material in the repository is subject to copyright law and agreement with the publisher or copyright owner.
The following conditions for full-text access apply:
• The author owns the copyright and authorises deposit in the repository
• Permission has been obtained from the copyright owner or the publisher to deposit within the repository
• The publisher as copyright owner allows it to be held in an institutional repository
Where the deposit of the full material is not possible due to copyright restrictions, a citation, abstract and descriptive information including a link to an alternative location such as a publishers version of the material, etc may be added to Macquarie University ResearchOnline.
Content in Macquarie University ResearchOnline and any accompanying full-text text that has been made available will be accessible by the global research community via the Internet. The content will be listed in relevant open-access directories.
Assistance with Copyright
Repository staff, in the University Library, will in conjunction with Macquarie University’s Copyright Coordinator assist you by determining the copyright conditions of any material you may wish to deposit into Macquarie University ResearchOnline.
If you believe copyrighted work is available on the Macquarie University network in a way that constitutes copyright infringement, or a breach of an agreed licence or contract, please notify us using the Copyright Takedown Notice Form.
