Sandy Evans’ Indian Project brings together musicians from two very different musical traditions. The music they play draws on ideas from Carnatic music, Hindustani music and jazz. In Sandy’s words “In many ways our vocabularies differ. However, a love of rhythmic vibrancy; subtle and ecstatic moods; and the spontaneity of improvised music unites us. Sandy Evans performed alongside tabla player Maharshi Raval, Sitar player and vocalist Sarangan Sriranganathan, and double bassist Brett Hirst at the Adelaide Festival Centre’s OzAsia Festival in September, and Music Deli was there to catch the performance. Recorded and mixed for RN by Andrea Hensing. Duration 19’13”.
