Description
'Character Drift' is concerned with finding work in the Australian film and television industries and issues of 'vocation' for artists. It explores these issues through a first-person account by the writer. It also utilizes the techniques of film and television in order to explore the notion of 'cinematic writing.' The essay in the words of writer and academic Joseph Epstein 'takes a line for a walk'. This essay aims to 'take an image for a walk.' That is, it emphasises the role of images in making sense of the world. It intertwines personal experience with readings on television from media, psychology and literature.
