The Tumbiana Formation is a ~2720 Ma volcano-sedimentary formation of the Neoarchean Fortescue group, and is renowned for containing some of the world's best preserved and most abundant Archean stromatolites. This Record describes results from a study of the stratigraphy, facies and stromatolites of the Tumbiana Formation in the Northwest and the western Northeast Pilbara Sub-basins of the Fortescue Basin.
