This paper reports on the implementation of the academic literacies approach in the delivery of a pre-sessional one-week full-time intensive EAP course offered to students enrolled in their first semester of postgraduate studies within the Linguistics Department at Macquarie University. The rationale for the curriculum development process and the selection of content areas is explained. Some samples of the materials produced are showcased and the theoretical underpinnings for their development are discussed. The students' and teachers' evaluation of the course is also presented. The course was delivered to a cohort of both students whose first language was English and students for whom English was an additional language.
