In 2008, Kathryn Millard directed a monologue/cabaret piece written by Noelle Janaczewska and performed by Asako Izawa for the Art Gallery of NSW 'After Hours' Art. It was commissioned by AGNSW to contextualise the exhibition. There were 4 performances. The performance ran for an hour and was well attended. It was part of an ongoing collaboration between Noelle Janaczewska and Kathryn Millard concerning the poetics of writing for performance. Taisho- Chick is a warm and witty portrait of early C20th Japan in song and story. Free performances by Asako Izawa as Keiko, the feisty 111 year old cabaret host, with pianist Tim Bruer; written by Noelle Janaczewska; directed by Kathryn Millard. Part of Taisho- Chic, Japan in the 20s & 30s exhibition. ArtBar, Art Gallery of NSW, Wed 23 & 30 July 2008 at 7.30pm.
