Description: Universities .contribute to national and international economies and to the improvement in outcomes for people and the planet The Australian Government has the aim of 40% of its citizens attending university as well as an increase in the number of disadvantaged students who attain a university qualification. In Australia, there have also been significant changes to the regulation of universities through the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Association (TEQSA). In this paper, and those that follow in this special edition, we examine a comprehensive program to improve the outcomes for students and to enhance the effectiveness of learning and teaching at Macquarie University, Australia. We used an action research methodology to Close the Loop and improve practice.
