- Description
- English teachers face the shifting landscapes of education, the rapidly expanding repertoire of information and communication technologies, and the diverse nature, interests, and abilities of their students with increasing confidence, skill and creativity. The management of such shifting landscapes, in order to facilitate effective learning, requires new ways of thinking about classroom approaches and resource utilisation. This article reports on the development of a customised website – e is for english – which seeks to address the specific needs of the subject discipline and to support preservice English teachers especially while responding to the evolving nature of learning and teaching in our globalised world. In offering a conceptual pathway for teachers, the site provides a framework to integrate pedagogically based tools, ideas, and approaches. It is collegial, presenting a means of communication and opportunities for enhanced collaborative learning. It also aims to be an effective resource management model and to facilitate an active integration of ICT into classroom practice.
